Defensive Gun Use

Episode 179: People Couldn’t Believe The Blood Was Real!

By Riley Bowman / December 6, 2017

Today’s stories are a must-hear! A couple of critical bills just past through the House Judicial Committee and will be going up for a House vote in the next day or so, and one of them is a big mistake! 4 incredible JUSTIFIED stories will teach some really important lessons including the story of yet another pizza delivery driver that is attacked and is forced to defend himself in a gunfight. A photo of bright red blood on the ground was the result of a man who accidentally shot himself with his Taurus Judge, and because there was so much blood and it was so brightly colored, the photo “broke the Internet” as people were left skeptical that is was even a real photo to begin with. But Riley has the scoop on the true, real-life story that will blow your mind and really drives home how important tourniquets are where it comes to saving lives.

Episode 177b: “Good Guy With a Gun” a Myth?

By Riley Bowman / November 30, 2017

We hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving. Over the break there were so many new stories that we just had to talk about, we split this episode up into 2 parts. Enjoy this part 2 where we talk about the discrimination Facebook is committing by restricting and shutting down firearm related pages and ads. Also we dive into an article written by an Army veteran and gun owner that tries to reason that the whole “good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun” premise is just a myth. But we follow that right up with at least 2 JUSTIFIED stories from the last week that blow holes right through that ill-informed statement!

Episode 177a: The Liberal Gun Club

By Riley Bowman / November 28, 2017

We hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving. Over the break there were so many new stories that we just had to talk about, we split this episode up into 2 parts. Enjoy this part 1 of the episode as we talk about anti-gunners calling upon webhosts to shut down e-commerce sites that sell “ghost gun” kits and parts. Hear our take on this attack on our rights. Also we discuss one major gun manufacturer that appears may be in trouble with the “Trump Slump” occurring in the firearms industry. But the top story is one based on a video about The Liberal Gun Club that is a place for non-traditional 2nd Amendment supporters.

Episode 175: Road Rage Turns Into Deadly Shooting

By Riley Bowman / November 21, 2017

Last week we told you about the war on guns that is building and is coming. This week we see skewed and biased reporting from Quinnipiac University with a poll about support for an assault weapons ban. We see so-called journalistic publications asking for donations to help them publish more content on guns, gun violence, and gun control because where it comes to gun control “we just aren’t doing enough.” We have a Republican-controlled Congress that is afraid to do anything on pro-gun legislation for fear of it not being good for “optics.” So instead they feel they must do something, and some Senators and Representatives are getting on board with “low hanging fruit of common sense regulation.” At least Michigan is doing some things right as last week the Senate passed a bill that reduces the number of “Gun Free Zones” and this week the House passed a bill for constitutional carry. Follow along, and don’t forget the powerful lessons to be learned from today’s JUSTIFIED stories.

Episode 173: “Hand Over Your Weapons”

By Riley Bowman / November 15, 2017

The war against guns and gun rights is just getting started. Election results across the country last week weren’t favorable towards the 2nd Amendment. Virginia and New Jersey have new anti-gun governors. Media outlets are suggested it is a referendum against Trump and because the voters want more gun control. Is that really the case? We’re not so sure, but one thing is certain…this battle is continuing on, and we have got to educate and motivate people to understand the “gun issue” and get on the right side of things.

It is a solemn day in America. But heroes walk amongst us. We cannot let our guard down!

Episode 169: Good Guy With a Gun Stops Child Abduction

By Riley Bowman / October 30, 2017

The former NPR Chief “comes out of the closet” on gun rights. The anti-gunners are dealt a blow in Illinois when a bumpfire stock and trigger modification bill failed to pass the House. Even a few anti-gun Democrats wouldn’t vote for it. Meanwhile Mayor Bloomberg’s Everytown is pouring millions into Virginia State elections. His efforts will likely fail as they have elsewhere. Plus DO NOT miss the story of a Las Vegas man that stopped the kidnapping of a 6-year-old boy because he made it a habit to always carry his gun on his person. It also was not hte first time he had to defend himself either. Riley and Jacob discuss at length, check it out!

By Riley Bowman / October 24, 2017

A recent study from the University of Illinois shows that even with Las Vegas and Orlando fresh in our minds, mass shootings are not in fact increasing in terms of frequency. We found this study to be quite interesting as well as today’s other fascinating news out of Australia as we look at the results of a national amnesty gun confiscation program that yielded far less than we’re sure they hoped for. Also FIVE great JUSTIFIED stories from which we can all learn from.

Episode 165: Universal Background Checks Ineffective Study Shows

By Riley Bowman / October 16, 2017

Some pretty big news out this week about background checks. A three year look back at the effectiveness of universal background checks in Colorado and Washington forced the author of that study who “wanted to see a different result” to admit that there has been no measurable impact on crime reduction. This plus tons of other great analysis on many other stories including a couple of JUSTIFIED stories that have some critical lessons to learn from.

Episode 156: Mass Shooting Recovery – Interview with Andy Brown Part 2

By Riley Bowman / September 13, 2017

Part 2 of 2: If you missed episode #154, Part 1 of this interview with Andy Brown, please go back and listen to it now! This is a truly special episode today. I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Andy Brown, author of the book Warnings Unheeded: Twin Tragedies at Fairchild Air Force Base. This book is a recounting of two tragic events that happened within days of each other at Fairchild AFB–a B-52 bomber crash and an active shooting that killed 5 and wounded many more. Andy was the man, then an Air Force Security Police airman (now known as Security Forces), who stopped the individual responsible for the heinous attack at the base hospital. It is not often you get to hear first hand from a man with his kind of experience and knowledge, so tune in, take some notes, and determine what you need to do to better prepare for your worst-case scenario.

By Riley Bowman / September 11, 2017

On this 16th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on 9/11, we hope and pray folks in Texas and Florida are doing okay after these two recent hurricanes. Today Riley Bowman discusses with Matthew Maruster possible gun confiscation in the Virgin Islands during and after Hurricane Irma passed through, bills in California requiring that gun dealers up their security measures to prevent theft, and the fact that it appears Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is holding up a vote on the National Concealed Carry Reciprocity bill. After the recent attack at the Congressional Baseball practice, you would think Mr. Ryan would feel this was an important and pressing matter to push through, but that’s not the case as he says that the timing “is not right.” Don’t miss these and all the other stories from today’s episode!!
