SHOP Talk With Riley: EDC Gear When You Can’t Have Your Gun

Here is another edition of SHOP Talk with Riley Bowman. In this episode, Riley shares what he carries behind enemy lines when he's in a state where it is unlawful for him to carry a gun.

There are four of us out here at this conference in another state (that we are leaving unnamed for the time being), and it isn't exactly the most gun friendly state in the Union.

Riley thinks outside the box in this episode, and you're not going to want to miss it. After all, self-defense is important no matter where you're at.

I'll start off by saying that just about anything can be used as a weapon if you train yourself to think in that manner. When I was in the Marines, we were taught the concept of “weapons of opportunity.”

A weapon of opportunity can be anything that you may be able to use in defense of yourself.

For example, something that I remember being taught is that a tightly rolled newspaper or magazine can be used as a striking tool that you can use to help level the playing field a bit more.

He may not talk about newspapers or magazines but something that Riley touches on in this video, are flashlights.

Check out this video where Riley discusses some of these outside of the self-defense box weapons that many people may not have thought of. Some are common sense, others not so much.

You can find our flashlights here.

Leather pouch with 35 dollar coins inside, on a paracord loop. Stainless ballpoint.

The coins in a pouch is illegal in most states, being known as a “sap”.

Does anyone make a tactical grade defensive Selfie Stick? I have a very stout walking cane for non lethal defensive use.

Glass is my pick for weapon of opportunity. I carry KelTec PMR 30 and 2 magazines. Crashing glass is a great diversionary tactic and the PMR 30 is a great equalizer, 30 shots, groups of 5=bleed out.
