Georgia Changes Mind About Honoring the Virginia Permit

South Carolina and Georgia Now Have Permit Reciprocity

On Friday something very unusual happened. South Carolina passed a law that was signed in by Gov. Nikki Haley and went into effect on Friday June 3rd. The law granted reciprocity to Georgia in South Carolina. South Carolina’s policy has been to only honor permits from states that have similar or higher training standards which did not include Georgia because Georgia does not require any training to obtain a permit.
