CCW Safe Acquires ACLDN: What It Means for Members and the Industry
In a major move that could reshape the landscape of self-defense legal coverage, CCW Safe has officially acquired the Armed Citizens’ Legal Defense Network (ACLDN). The announcement was made on July 14, 2025, and marks the unification of two veteran organizations that have long supported responsibly armed Americans during their most critical moments.
Founded in 2008 by Marty and Gila Hayes, ACLDN has served thousands of members across all 50 states. Known for its education-first approach and a strong emphasis on lawful self-defense, ACLDN built a reputation for integrity and grassroots leadership. With this acquisition, CCW Safe brings ACLDN’s members under its wing, expanding both organizations' ability to serve gun owners with top-tier legal, emotional, and practical support.

“Both organizations have always shared the same purpose—supporting responsible firearm owners in the worst moment of their life,” said Mike Darter, CEO of CCW Safe.
What Changes for ACLDN Members?
Not much—and that’s a good thing. According to CCW Safe’s official transition page, ACLDN members will keep their current membership structure, with no interruption in service and no price hikes. Here’s what else to know:
- No new contract needed – You’ll automatically be under CCW Safe’s terms.
- Coverage continues – Your benefits remain in place and in fact you are getting more than before without paying more.
- New support number – As of July 9, emergency calls go through CCW Safe’s 24/7 response line: 1‑800‑508‑0450.
- Membership cards on the way – Expect a CCW Safe card in your mailbox soon.
- Upgrades available later – You’ll have the option to switch to a higher-tier CCW Safe plan down the road.
Note: If you live in New York, New Jersey, or Washington, your ACLDN plan will continue without transitioning to CCW Safe due to local restrictions.
Why This Is Good News for Gun Owners
For those unfamiliar, CCW Safe has become a powerhouse in the world of legal self-defense support. We’ve reviewed them before and pointed out several features that set them apart:
- Proven track record – They are the only provider in this space that has successfully defended a member against a murder charge and won.
- Unlimited legal defense – No reimbursement. No cap. No fine print.
- Critical Response Team – Real boots on the ground, often arriving within 12 hours after an incident.
- Member-first mindset – They've even removed restrictive clauses from their contract that other companies still use to deny coverage.

This acquisition isn’t just a merger—it’s an upgrade. ACLDN members now gain access to CCW Safe’s expanded infrastructure, expert attorneys, and round-the-clock support, while still benefiting from the educational focus ACLDN has always emphasized.
A Legacy Continued
ACLDN founder Marty Hayes, a respected voice in the self-defense community, had this to say:
“It was important to me that our members would continue to be supported with the same level of dedication and integrity. I’m confident that CCW Safe shares our values and commitment to responsible gun owners.”
We couldn’t agree more. Both organizations have shown over the years that they’re not in it for flashy marketing—they’re in it to protect real people who carry every day and hope they never have to use their firearm.
Final Thoughts
This acquisition represents a significant consolidation in the world of legal protection for gun owners. But more importantly, it puts more resources, more experience, and more muscle behind the mission of protecting those who carry.
If you're an ACLDN member, you’re in good hands. And if you’re still shopping for legal coverage, now might be the right time to give CCW Safe a serious look.
CCW Safe has also just agreed to sponsor the book “Florida Firearms – Law, Use and Ownership”. This is a book that explains for the layman all of Florida and Federal laws concerning weapons, firearms, and self defense — with a number of practical suggestions. It has been in publication since 1993 with regular updates every year, and free updating on its website, and overall sales in excess of a quarter million books since inception. Written by a retired trial attorney who specialized in firearm and self defense cases who was also an NRA certified instructor, prosecutor, former FFL, and criminal defense attorney with over 200 jury trials — it brings his 40 years of experience into print, and has been called “the bible” on Florida firearm law.
