Springfield Announces New TRP 10mm Pistol with Red Dot Sight

1911 TRP 10mm

Springfield Armory has already made a splash this week announcing their new SAINT AR-15 Pistol, but it seems that America's armory was not done with their announcements. Today Springfield has introduced another fancy new piece Its TRP 10mm with RMR red dot sight in 5″ and 6″.

SPRINGFIELD'S STATEMENT

ConcealedCarry.com got word of these new accessorized TRP pistols via a press release from Springfield Armory itself.  Let's take a look at what Springfield itself has to say about their new pistols.

The Springfield Armory TRP 10mm RMR – one with a 5” barrel, and one with a 6” barrel – are now available with a Trijicon Ruggedized Miniature Reflex (RMR) sight milled into the slide of Springfield Armory’s most elite production 1911.Trijicon RMR mount features an integrated rear tritium sight that allows a lower 1/3 co-witness of the front tritium sight post.

Springfield Armory chose Trijicon, the proven leader in rugged red-dot optics, for its ability to stand up to the power of the formidable 10mm round. The sight is crafted from 7075-T6 aluminum to mil-spec standards and has a patented shape that absorbs impacts and diverts stresses away from the lens, increasing durability.

“We’re very pleased to partner with Springfield Armory on the release of their TRP 10mm with Trijicon RMR. Consumers will be very pleased with this winning combination.” Shared Chuck Wahr, Trijicon Vice President of Sales & Marketing.

“A strong optic that mirrors the robust, yet finely-detailed qualities of the TRP line was crucial in determining what red-dot we decided to offer our consumers,” explains Springfield Armory CEO Dennis Reese.“Easier targeting and sight acquisition makes a difference in the seconds when it matters most, and we are proud to offer the Trijicon RMR on our 10mm TRP.”

The 5” and 6” TRP 10mm RMRs feature forged National Match frames and slides, precision-fit to match-grade stainless steel fully supported barrels. Frames and slides are Black-T finished to withstand heavy use and harsh environments.

The front strap and mainspring housing are checkered in Posi-Lock™ for a firm yet comfortable hold. A TechWell Magwell/Grip System allows for rapid mag changes under stress without adding any more bulk to the contour of the gun. Once the ambidextrous safety lever is flipped, the Springfield Armory Gen 2 Speed Trigger, calibrated to a crisp 4.5- to 5-pound pull, provides an amazingly clean break. Recoil is managed through extra mass in the reciprocating assembly and frame, making the power of the 10mm round easy on the operator. Each TRP 10mm RMR is shipped with two 9-round magazines.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

It seems that Springfield is quite proud of this new line of accessorized handguns but the issue for some on this matter may be the price. For those wishing to get the 5″ TRP it's going to set you back $2,507.00 and for those looking for the 6″, you will pay even more at $2,558.

But for those of you with the cash in your pockets, these are certainly some sweet looking pieces, at least in this writer's eye and if you want an extended look at Springfield's new firearms they have provided a video explaining even more about them.

So what do you think? Is this a yay or nay for you? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

About Craig Martin

Craig Martin grew up in the unincorporated town of Lewis, Wisconsin. From a young age, Craig was introduced to guns, as he was tasked with defending his backwood home’s wiring from a scourge of red squirrels.

Ever the animal lover, though; Craig couldn’t let these creatures die needlessly. So he would take his kills and leave them for the foxes, coyotes, and bears to eat at a deer feeder his grandfather built around their home.

His lifestyle made Craig understand that guns are a tool and ever since, has spread the word about how firearms are not a menace, like the red squirrel, but an item to help people. He instils this in every article he writes for USA Firearm Training.
