About This Episode:

This episode addresses the critical topic of gun-free zones within the concealed carry community. I engage in an in-depth conversation with Jacob Paulsen, exploring the legal implications and personal experiences related to various types of gun-free zones.

We categorize these zones into four sub-types. We emphasize the need for concealed carriers to remain informed about these laws and navigate the complexities of compliance. Throughout the discussion, I reflect on the responsibilities of carriers and the importance of understanding our rights in relation to personal security and the environments we enter.

Ultimately, we aim to empower listeners with knowledge and resources to ensure responsible carrying practices.

As always, any questions or suggestions for future episodes can be submitted to [email protected]!

Jacob & Riley, this is a positive comment you might consider as we all get older and use the phrase “over the hill”. A trusted friend modified that saying that I have adopted myself, “I am over the hill and going up the next one”! WOW! Our internal drive to persistent and perseverance to keep going as much as we are able: physical, mental, and spiritual. Thank you for the equipment, training, & information to keep us well informed in self-defense. Dan Ishida, (71yo that is over the hill,……..but I’m going up the next one!)

As far as gun free zones go at least here in Florida there are a few places off limits such as casinos and bars however a restaurant like Applebees which has a bar is ok as long as we don’t sit at the bar itself. Every where else is ok. Stores must post anti gun rules at the entrance. The Costco in my area has no signs but then again we can not open carry only concealed so there’s really nothing to see. The only time I had an issue was when my mother was taken ti the emergency room and I showed up and was greeted by an no guns sign . I said my mom was just brought here, she’s in the emergency room, I have a gun on my persons and have a concealed carry permit and I’m not leaving my gun in the car. A supervisor escorted me to a locker area where I was able to lock up my weapon.
