The New Aimpoint COA and A-Cut Red Dot Collaboration With Glock
This year at SHOT Show 2025 Aimpoint and Glock announced and released a new collaboration. This collaboration, which will be exclusive to Glock for the next year features not only a great-looking pistol optic from Aimpoint but also a new mounting method and footprint. Here is a short video overview followed by some written comments.
The New Aimpoint COA.
The COA is a new optic for slimline and full-size pistols from Aimpoint. It runs on a 2032 battery which is easily accessed from a side battery tray. It is a very small and slim optic but it seems easy to pick up and has a great field of view. It looks like an Aimpoint and probably acts like one too and I mean that is a good way.
It is a 3.5 MOA and you will get 5 years of battery life. Aimpoint says they have put it through the ringer with some of their most thorough testing and it has held up well.
The New A-Cut
If you are like me, you are already a little fed up with the seeming inability of the firearm industry to come to some sort of consensus on pistol optic cuts. With smaller compact guns the RMSC footprint is starting to emerge as the universal choice but with full-size guns, the battle rages on.
So when I heard the new Glock / Aimpoint collaboration was introducing yet another new optic cut I didn't get excited. However on range day when I got to see it and shoot it I was impressed.

Most optic cuts rely on a direct mount to the slide solely reliant on 2 screws or a mount to an adapter plate which then mounts directly to the slide which then is dependent on 4 screws.
What makes the A-Cut a little different is that it “tucks” under the front end of the slide cut. This locks it in tighter in my opinion and allows the metal of the slide to hold in the optic, sharing the burden with the 2 screws.
The two screws go threw a rear plate that contains your rear notch iron sights as well. Altogether it is a new approach and felt very secure, potentially easier to mount, and has the advantage of providing an easy way to change out aftermarket rear sights.
Time will tell if the marketplace proves this A-Cut out as a new and effective mounting footprint but I liked it.
