- Public and private schools — the real property and buildings. Exceptions for an adult over 18 who isn't enrolled there and keeps the firearm secured and locked in a vehicle unobtrusively, for someone with a firearm in a private vehicle while dropping off or picking up students or staff, and for anyone authorized by the school board
- Student dormitories and residence halls at public colleges and universities. Off-campus housing, outdoor grounds, and parking lots are excluded
- Public entertainment facilities on public college and university campuses — arenas, stadiums, amphitheaters, auditoriums, and theaters seating at least 1,000 — when properly posted at each public entrance. Outdoor grounds, rights-of-way, and parking lots are excluded
- Public property owned by the state or a political subdivision when it's being used for a private invitation-only event, a commercial event charging admission, or any other restricted-access event where it's apparent the general public doesn't have unrestricted access
- Private property where the owner, tenant, employer, or business entity excludes you. Employers may post their parking lots
- Any place where a person, board, or entity with authority over the building hasn't authorized you — carry is permitted where they do authorize it
- State parks located on Army Corps of Engineers land, per federal law
