Rock Island Armory Release: STK100 Striker-Fired Handgun
Rock Island Armory is well-known for its single-action, 1911 handguns. Now they are venturing into the striker-fired market with the release of the STK100.
Rock Island Armory (RIA) STK100:
I haven't had an opportunity to handle the new STK100, but it is a full-size handgun, according to the company website. It is chambered in 9mm and has a 17 round capacity, just like a Glock 17 handgun.
For some reference, the STK100 is similar in size to the Glock 17 and full-size Sig P320. Here is a list of some of its specs:
STK100 Specifications:
- CALIBER: 9MM
- CAPACITY: 17
- BARREL: 4.5″
- OVERALL LENGTH: 7.91″
- OVERALL WIDTH: 1.25″
- OVERALL HEIGHT: 5.16″
- WEIGHT: 1.80LBS
- REAR SIGHT FIXED
- INTEGRATED ON OPTIC COVER PLATE
- GRIPSALUMINUM (INTEGRATED ON FRAME)
- FINISH BLACK ANODIZED
- TRIGGER PULL: 3-7LBS
Features:
A few features that jump out and distinguish it from the Glock 17 or Sig P320 is that it has an aluminum frame. Shooters that prefer the aluminum feel and weight of CZ75's or 1911's compared to a polymer frame will like this feature.
The STK 100 has a pronounced beavertail, and the grip angle is similar to a 1911. In addition to some slide cuts that enhance grip and reduce some slide weight, it comes optic ready. Factory, optic-ready is pretty much a necessity for any handgun produced now. The handgun also has an accessory rail for a weapon-mounted light (WML).
As I mentioned, I haven't had an opportunity to handle the gun or get a peek at the internals, so I'll wait on giving any opinion on the gun's performance. However, Rock Island Armory is known for producing reliable handguns that are affordable and reliable. I am hopeful that the STK100 is a quality option for a self-defense, everyday carry (EDC) handgun.
