Trump’s Speech At The NRA Conference: The Gun Laws To Worry About
So far we've been fairly quiet on this website relative to upcoming candidates for President. We are a firearm training organization and we are about policy, not politics. So while I intend to carefully manage that balance there is no way to avoid the topic of political issues when we are focused on supporting American Gun Owners in defending the innocent from criminals.
I just reviewed Donald Trump's speech at the recent NRA Conference. Donald Trump has received the NRA endorsement… perhaps in part because the options are limited. Regardless Trump is the NRA's guy at this point.
No matter what you think about Donald Trump what is clear is that like most candidates, he knows our soft buttons. He mentioned several of the hot button laws and topics that are legitimately on the chopping block in this country. Here is a quick summary of things I think we all need to be thinking about.
-> Gun Free Zones: Criminals like easy targets. Easy victims. It has always been that way. It will always be that way. Donald says he will somehow… “get rid of those.” Here is our best overview of the problem.
-> Background Checks: This is the easiest lie to sell to America. On the surface it sounds like such a no-brainier law to pass. The truth is more back ground checks is just more handcuffs on law abiding citizens. This is a must read on the topic: Everything You Need to Know About Background Checks.
-> Magazine Capacity Limits: They figure if they can limit the number of rounds in the gun they can lesson the carnage. Truth is they only handicap the good guys. Check out this research: Magazine Limits Don't Work.
What do you think are the other core gun law themes in our political atmosphere? Please let me know in the comments below.
Here is the speech:
Finally a guy who talks sense about guns.
this is the reason why I cancelled my N.R.A membership! never again
thanks for posting the speech
Jacob: Did you also like his statement about banning assault rifles? That was a few
years back, but, when ask the question last week he did not give a direct
answer. He is pandering to the NRA and they bought it hook line and sinker!!
If you are looking for my personal 2 cents here it is… Trump is a politician now. He will say whatever is most likely to get him into power and keep him there. His actions will also mostly come into line with whatever is going to keep him in power should he get elected. The NRA is a lobbyist group and they need a presidential candidate to get behind. Its central to everything they are trying to do. If they invest into Trump and he wins they will have more influence with what he does while in office. Ultimately the NRA has little other choice.
The smart thing early on would have been to endorse the true defender of the Constitution and especially the Second Amendment, Ted Cruz. They definitely screwed the pooch on this.
IMHO.
Why can’t you NRA stand on your own?what happened to we the ppl by the ppl?
