Gun Sales Continue To Climb in Unison With Fear Over Disbanded Police

2020 is turning out to be a strange year, for sure. I'm really not even sure what to think at this point anymore. We've got a pandemic around the globe that has wreaked havoc on every aspect of human life, the economy has tanked big time, and now there is talk about de-funding (with some plans to disband the city police, like in Minneapolis).

People are rightfully fearful of the future.

What are they fearful of? They're afraid that if there are no police to respond when help is needed, an uptick in crime will put them at risk of death or serious bodily injury with nobody to help.

And, I get it. There is already big crime in many of the bigger cities and the police there already cannot keep up with that crime. When and if this happens, things are going to change for that area. And, if this is the wave of the future for the United States as a whole, our country will look very different in the coming months and years.

This turns into more people than ever buying guns and ammo, which means there is a lot less stock on the shelves. Of course, this depends largely on your geographical location at the moment, but things are still pretty scarce in many areas.

Not only are there a lot of brand new gun owners (several of which are family members of mine) who now see the need to be sufficiently armed, people who already own guns have ramped up their buying as well.

In fact, one fella I know recently told me he's seriously considering the sale of his large collection of antique firearms for what he believes may be coming down the pipe.

He loves his guns and has some beauties in his collection so I know this decision doesn't come lightly. What does he want? More ammo and some other, more high tech goodies that I'm not even going to mention. Only madness or need would cause him and so many others to take this sort of action.

And the way things are looking, I can see why everyone is shaking in their space boots.

However, even if the police are “disbanded” or “de-funded” in those cities, there are other jurisdictions that can step in if needed. County and state police departments will be around still, as a city government cannot disband an organization at a higher level, but will remain overwhelmed for sure.

And, who knows, it may be that there aren't enough county police to really help as much as needed, which adds to the issue.

Here's a video by one of the bigger news networks, who recently sat down with a gun store owner in Pittsburgh talking about the rising sales:

Interestingly enough, some are calling it the year gun control died because of the sheer number of new gun owners hitting the stores and buying. I definitely don't think that's the case. The anti-gunners hate guns as much as ever, they've just currently got bigger fish to fry.

Or, so it would seem anyway.

What do you think about all that's going on with city citizens demanding the de-funding or complete disbanding of their police departments? Let us know in the comments below.

A gun in the hand is worth more than the entire Police Dept on the phone. In fact, Perguson, MO taught us not to depend on the police because the police will have their hands full defending themselves from mob violence.

I appreciate you keepong us updated. But your defund the police movement is ill informed and only creates the idea that there are no police that will ever respond.

It would be helpful to also teach people about what it really means between abolition and defunding or realocation of funds.

Guns are not the only way to protect yourself or descalate a situation.

Please try to be less biased when writing so your not just as bad as main stream media with fear mongering tatics.

The Minneapolis City Council has voted to disband their police department. Both you and the author miss that there are not 800 additional officers in any jurisdiction there to replace 800 MPD officers. To expect the approximately 300 county sheriff’s deputies or 600 Minnesota State Troopers who already have full time jobs to pick up that 800 person work load is disingenuous at the least. Police showing up days after an assault or murder is not a “response”.

Abolition, defunding and reallocation all have the same overall result, they just differ in degree; all three result in fewer officers to respond. Detroit this past decade is a good example of what happens when you have too few resources. Their manning fell by 250+ officers between 2013 and 2019. Response times in 2018 for 2,994 Priority One 911 calls took over 30 minutes, up 70% from 1,748 such calls in 2017.

People complain about current police response times, and reducing those resources will only exacerbate the problem. What Officer Chauvin did was wrong and will be dealt with by the courts. But to throw out the entire MPD organization for the actions of one man without a viable alternative in place is insanity.

Police departments need to be reformed. All my Boogaloo Brothers talk about defending their rights against an unjust government that has exceeded its mandate and are armed to proceed with that defense. They cite various examples of government over reach and stand against it. Black Lives Matter and the other organizations have THE SAME COMPLAINT and video and statistical evidence to show that our government has denied the rights of a segment of the population going even as far as to kill unarmed, fully restrained individual CITIZENS.

Eliminating police departments will never happen!! Nobody is that stupid! Changes, MAJOR changes to the accountability of police officers for bad decision and outright criminal acts must be implemented or the fears of the Boogaloo Crew will become a reality. POLICING MUST CHANGE or by necessity there will be a revolt in the country. You cannot continue to kill UNARMED people and expect them never to rise up and fight back.

To my Boogaloo Brothers, from one of your Black Brothers. Take a step back and see what our government is doing and encourage them to clean up their act. What they do in black face today, they will do in white face tomorrow. Look at how they have eliminated gun rights in Black areas and now want to extend them to White areas.

This government doesn’t care about you or me. They want to take your weapons, (black people are UNDER-armed but not fully dis-armed). Where there are large concentrations of Black people, LA, NY, Chicago, DC, gun control is prevalent. It has worked so well in stopping insurrections among that community that they want to apply it to you now. They will use the police to do this and the danger is great if we don’t make the police force back into a community of good men and women who SERVE their local communities.

by the time the police( if they still exist ) arrive, will you still be alive ?? better to have one and not need it, than to need it , and not have one.

No matter what people believe it is better to be prepared for the worse while hoping for the best. I agree that there is alot of fearmongering from some who sell guns, but I also believe that ultimately it’s my responsibility to protect those I love. Let the crazies on both sides keep trying to freak us out ultimately they will reap what they sow. I will just quietly protect my own.

Criminals have guns, but Citizens don’t need guns because the Police have guns, and democRats want to eliminate Criminals??? No Comrade, democRats want to eliminate Police, AND Citizens with guns.
I know this is confusing, but Who is left with the guns???

The police can investigate your maiming or murder but they rarely can be there in time to prevent it!
