I have reviewed at least a few dozen holsters over the past couple years.
We often talk about the importance of well-maintained, excellently-designed, effective handguns. BUT don’t forget that the holster is probably your second most important piece of kit. It, too, needs to be well thought-out, well-designed, and allows you to draw the firearm quickly, safely, and put shots quickly on target. Today’s episode tackles some of the problems we often see in holsters and what can be done to make them better and also what you should look for to pick the best quality holster for you and your needs.
While I agree that in most cases IWB holsters are going to be preferable to OWB holsters there are many reasons and circumstances in which owning an OWB Holster for your firearm is necessary or handy. What follows is a review of those circumstances.
I had the opportunity to have an exclusive look at and review the new Grunt Style Defender Series Holster made by L.A.G. Tactical. The Defender Holster is an IWB/OWB (Inside Waistband/Outside Waistband) holster that can be swapped between roles in a matter of minutes. All one must do is remove the IWB clips and replace them with the OWB loops or vice versa.

Damon and Ron look at the VersaCarry holster system. Its unique for sure, allowing for right or left handed IWB carry. Not fully firearm specific.
My favorite thing about the holster is the patent pending fabric on the back that breathes and allows air to flow. Especially in hotter weather there is a tendency for IWB holsters to get a little sweaty and nasty. This one doesn’t.
