0:00/1:40:28

About This Episode:

In this episode, I discuss concealed carry positions with co-host Jacob Paulsen, revisiting this crucial topic after nearly a decade. We examine the popularity of appendix carry for its visibility and safety, while also exploring the strong side hip carry and its accessibility challenges.

We evaluate various positions like cross-draw, pocket carry, and ankle carry, weighing their pros and cons to guide listeners in finding what suits their needs. Off-body carry is included as well, prompting critical thought about safety. Our goal is to empower the concealed carry community to reflect on their practices and training for better safety outcomes.

Two positions not discussed are chest and shoulder. I currently have a chest holster for hiking. It puts the firearm just where I need it. Most importantly it is INDEPENDENT of my backpack. I can access the firearm if the pack is on and when I remove the pack, the firearm stays in the holster on my chest.

The second is shoulder holster. I do not like a IWB option, as it requires me to wear looser clothes which I refuse to do. OWB is possible, but I am seriously leaning towards shoulder. I shoot lefty, so whether I’m driving or riding as a passenger, it gives me better access than OWB.
