I know very well what you mean about ignorant writers. I have recently listened to some stories on youtube, and in one the character first loads his double-barreled shotgun and after an exchange of dialogue he “racks” the gun and goes forth to greet some thugs . . .

In another story with the character picking up a double-barreled shotgun, he is described as then proceeding to “load it’s magazine.”

I could have corrected both of these writers way back when I was a toddler, in the mid ’50s.
