Mountain Man Medical

Description

The Yellowstone Kit is named for the Yellowstone Park in Wyoming which is believed to be first seen by a non-native by Mountain Man John Colter. Stories told by Mountain Men over the next 40 years of boiling mud, steaming rivers, and petrified trees eventually brought more explorers to the region including famous Mountain Man and explorer Jim Bridger. Yellowstone eventually became the first National Park in the United States, approved by President Grant in 1872.

The Yellowstone Kit is a basic but comprehensive Trauma kit from Mountain Man Medical. When designing this kit the team set out to build something that they felt would suffice for 99% of trauma emergencies. Similar to the Sweetwater Kit but with added QuickClot, Chest Seals, and additional gauze.

We dare you to compare it to competing trauma kits that cost more and come with lower-quality components.

Also, when putting this kit together the team focused on compact components. This kit can easily be repurposed to a smaller pouch or an ankle IFAK or cargo pocket. Mini compression bandage, mini marker, small shears, tightly bundled gloves, compact chest seals and vacuum sealed hemostatic dressing, and compressed gauze and bandages are some of the keys to that overall compact delivery.

The SWAT-T is a versatile proven tourniquet. Just wrap and stretch using the instructions printed on the tourniquet itself to ensure proper application. Unlike many popular tourniquets it can be applied on animals or any appendage. It can also double as a compression bandage in a pinch.

The C-A-T and SOF-T tourniquets are both TCCC approved for combat use and have been the industry standard for tourniquets for decades. Easy to self-apply and fast and quick to slack with windlass. Please note we only sell genuine tourniquets. These are NOT fake counterfeits. For more information on the differences between these tourniquets review this video.

ChitoGauze OTC Hemostatic Dressing – 3 inch x 48 inch

This battlefield-proven hemostatic gauze is ideal for wound packing and stopping the bleed. It is z-folded in sterile packaging and vacuum sealed to reduce footprint and fit in any IFAK. This is an impregnated gauze, not a powder or granule. It is fully safe and effective and has a shelf life of over 5 years.

Hyfin Compact Twin Chest Seal

The HyFin Vent Twin Pack which gives responders two vented chest seals in a compact packaging for the treatment of penetrating injuries to the chest. Designed with 3-vented channels that allow air to escape the chest cavity during exhalation but prevents air from entering through the injury site during inhalation. Each HyFin Vent Compact Chest Seal is 4.75” x 4.75” and made with advanced adhesive to provide a superior adhesion in the most adverse conditions, including sweaty or hairy casualties.

Contained in a rugged, easy-to-open foil pouch, the perforated packaging allows users to open only one dressing at a time as needed. Its small packaging is ideal for low profile kits as you do not have to fold it to get it to fit in your kit, go-bag, cargo pocket or body armor.

TacMed Compact Trauma Bandage

The Compact Trauma Bandage from TacMed Solutions is a simple, effective pressure dressing designed to treat non-life-threatening hemorrhaging. It utilizes an elastic wrap material that can be used to generate pressure and a sterile wound pad that can be placed directly over the injury to aid in the control of bleeding. The bandage is flat-folded and vacuum-sealed to create a low profile so it can be easily stored.

These heavy-duty strength gloves (5-mil thick) are made from medical-grade synthetic rubber. They are puncture-resistant, stretchable and ambidextrous. They are disposable and designed for single use. These are size Large, designed to fit an overwhelming majority of American adults.

They are individually pre-wrapped in pairs and packaged for easy and fast deployment. Designed to fit in ankle cuffs and other compact IFAK pouches and carriers.

Nitrile gloves are a superior alternative to traditional latex as they offer greater durability, chemical resistance and control while simultaneously being non-allergenic. Take comfort in knowing these gloves are Latex-Free and Powder-Free.

Significantly over priced. A well thought out trauma bag. The videos may make the purchase worth the price.

    • Jacob Paulsen

Rodger, sorry you feel that way about the price. If you purchased each of the individual components in the kit you would pay about 20% more than our price. Please note we have a price match guarantee and I will extend that to you retroactively. Find a comparable kit with comparable name-brand components for less money and we will refund the difference. -Jacob

    Jacob,
Just received the Yellowstone Kit. Very happy with it as it does supply all the necessary equipment for a true emergency. Over the years I’ve been prepping and a good Blow-Out Med Kit has been a priority for my BOB. I’ve piece meal together several home made kits and I can affirm that this stuff is expensive. The kit is well thought out, and with the addition of a CAT tourniquet it is sufficient for most emergencies. Stuffing a CAT tourniquet into the kit is a bit of an over fill but it does work. A larger pouch for the Yellowstone would be a good idea. With the training videos, this is a good buy. It is definitely the thing that is missing from most kits on the market. Good product.

Perfect addition to my Range Bag! Having all these items in one package together is great. Excellent quality products.

  4. John Carney (verified owner)

Great 1st Aid kit and well worth the 5-6 week wait to get it due to the high demand. Love it and glad to have it.

  5. Rick Norwood

Great Trauma Kit – I didn’t start thinking about trauma in normal life until I started to carry and took a stop the bleed class. Your videos just enhanced my awareness. I intend on spreading the knowledge and the passion to be there to protect those around us. The passion and thought that went into these kits is awesome. I am glad to support a small business. It was worth the wait. I plan on ordering more of these kits for my church.

The kits and the education that goes along with them will increase the capabilities of our safety team.

  6. William Dean

Well thought out and assembled kit that contains the essential products necessary for GSW and acute trauma in a compact and easily transportable pouch. A must have for your range bag and go bag to supplement your 1st aid kit.

  7. Byron Hood (verified owner)

I bought 2 Yellowstone kits and added the A CAT tourniquet to both. My wife is an RN and I thought it wise to have one for each of us. We are very happy with the kits as they are high quality and as advertised. I was able to fit the extra tourniquet in the bag but it was tight. If there is a “tip” on how to best fit it in the bag please pass that along. I can also say I have no doubt everything bought separately would be far more than the package price.

  8. Steve Fryer (verified owner)

The delivery was slow but eh quality of the product is excellent. Unfortunately accessing the video has been largely a problem for me as I don’t really undertand comouters very well. ( I’m 80 and behind that curve) I feel the addition of the kit is a extra measure of protection form me personally though and it will be with me wherever I am. It was a bit pricey and maybe i wouldn’t have bought all of the included items if I had been assembling it on my own but then, it wouldn’t have been as well thought out either. ( perhaps you’ll send a link to the videos to me?)

    • Jacob Paulsen

Steve, I just sent you an email. Let us know if you need anything else.

  9. Paul (verified owner)

It seems a bit expensive until you price out all the components separately, you then realize this is a pretty good deal for everything that comes in the kit. The videos you get access to along with the purchase are excellent, I have made all the family members watch them.

  10. Joseph Shahoud (verified owner)

You really can’t beat the Yellowstone kit when you combine it with the video classes that came with it in the promotion. This kit is well thought out and worth every penny when compared to buying the items individually. Another great job by CC.Com.

  11. Jay (verified owner)

Great trauma kit! Well thought out and a great value compared to other kits on the market. The extra tourniquet pouch holds both the CAT-T and the shears, which frees up some space in the large pouch for an NPA, etc. The zippers on the pouch work very smoothly and seem to be of good quality. I only wish that the main pouch had molle straps on the “hinge” side so that I could attach the CAT pouch to it, but you can’t have everything for this price point.

  12. Michael Phillips (verified owner)

Horrendously overpriced for what you get. I can get almost the exact thing for 1/3rd the price. I was expecting a substantial trauma kit and got a minimalist one.

    • Jacob Paulsen

Michael, we aren’t aware of a better deal anywhere. Our price guarantee is retroactive. Contact us and provide us with information about any comparable Trauma kit for sale anywhere at a better price and we will refund you the difference.

My second review after purchasing my FOURTH Yellowstone Kit. This kit is excellent. Not sure what’s up with all the complaints about the price. If you ask me, these folks are comparing the quality components of the Yellowstone Kit with the cheap, expired garbage you find on Amazon. My dad always taught me you get what you pay for. That applies here. Yes, I now have 4 of these – one on my range bag and one for each vehicle in addition to what I carry as part of my EDC.

  14. Strada (verified owner)

Got this for the range bag after someone in our group had a pretty severe slide bite and found that the range only has a basic business first aid kit which was partially used and not restocked. I bring this and a comprehensive camping/hiking first aid kit along with two CATs. Kit is self contained in it’s own bag and well organized so you just pull it out and everything is there. The CATs are carried in the Prairie Molle tactical pouch as part of the system.

  15. Ren Petre (verified owner)

Received my kit with the CAT. Nice and compact. Fits nicely and easy to carry. Quality equipment, I hope I never need to use it but I know I have a quality pack within hands reach. TY

  16. Ryan Blackstock (verified owner)

Great kit that I hope I never have to use.

  17. Michael Doucet (verified owner)

Great kit. I received it a couple of days ago and am satisfied with it. Just hope I never have to use it

I thought it took longer to receive it than normal but very satisfied with the purchase
