This is the all-virtual Pistol Intelligence (PIQ) course from Riley Bowman and ConcealedCarry.com.

Description

Pistol Intelligence (Pistol IQ or PIQ) was developed as an in-person pistol performance training course by Riley Bowman and is generally taught over a 2-day period.

It is now available in digital format as a virtual experience optimized to drive as much value for the student as possible. It runs over 9 hours of total video broken up into 4 core modules.

PIQ is unique from other handgun courses in 3 Important Ways:

  1. PIQ is based on the reality that shooting skills are improved when they are measured, and for this reason, students take the “PIQ Standards” which provides a Pistol I.Q. score indicative of competency in the 5 Core Shooting Standards

  2. PIQ focuses on DISCOVERING–not MIMICKING–good shooting techniques. Shooters are not all the same and each must find their own best techniques. In PIQ you will find yours.

  3. PIQ heavily focuses on the mental and visual processing parts of performance shooting. It combines seeing and aiming with shooting in a science-based approach that is generally ignored in traditional defensive handgun training.

Have You Ever Wondered Why No Matter How Hard You Try You Just Can't Seem to Be Accurate At Speed?

Do you see top shooters and think they possess some sort of superpower?

Shooting fast and accurately isn't a superpower; it's a developed skill that eludes most shooters. Even those who take a lot of classes and go to the range often.

Simply put, focusing on “mimicking” the top grip, stance, and trigger manipulation techniques of those shooters is only going to get you so far.

In order to break through you have to develop a whole NEW skill which is utterly ignored by 99% of firearm instructors and the community at large.

I'm talking about visual processing.

In addition, you must be willing to depart, even if just a little, from the constant advice flooding in from all the “experts” about how to stand, how to grip, how to recover from recoil, and well…how to shoot.

You must be willing to be a student of discovery; working with correct principles of performance shooting but ultimately fine-tuning your techniques around what works for you.

Do You Worry That Your Current Mindset, Tactics, Knowledge, and Skills Won't Be Enough On The Day You Have A Gunfight?

There is no way to predict what will be required to win your fight, however…

“If you don't measure it, you can't improve it.”

Many experts in the defensive and competitive shooting fields have tried to answer the question, How good is good enough?

While of course there is no correct answer to that question it is still an important consideration. You don't see athletes say to themselves, “Well, we don't know how hard the next game is going to be against our opponent, so we might as well ignore all the stats and just wing it.”

That would be ridiculous and yet that is what we see concealed carriers do. Since the gunfight is unpredictable there is a tendency to ignore or even reject conversations about competency and skill level.

Certainly, it is true, that we can't predict what level of skill will be required to win your future gunfight, we can measure your skill and identify levels of performance that are consistent with good outcomes.

What Are The Pistol I.Q. Standards?

CCI-PIQ-Target-v1-Gray-Center

Most courses and instructors take the approach of measuring various shooting skills as individual drills or events. The PIQ Standards are intended to be a much more comprehensive, well-rounded assessment of actual shooting performance in 5 core metrics. It measures both accuracy and time in order to generate a score that is a perfect representation of both points and time. Thus you will have a precise score in each of the 5 Performance Standards and a total combined score. The 5 Standards that combine to make up the PIQ Standards are:

  1. Accuracy

  2. Draw

  3. Recoil Management

  4. Target Transition

  5. Throttle Control

Don't worry about all the details right now. When you start the course you will get all the details of how to run the standards and how to get your score. At the end of the course you will do it again to measure improvement and obviously you can “test” yourself as often as you want to continue to not only know where you are but which of these 5 Standards are your greatest weaknesses and strengths.

How Does The Online/Virtual Course Work?

First, you should know that the virtual course doesn't skip over or leave anything out compared to the standard in-person course Riley teaches. We took a full filming of his in-person course and edited out any fluff and then cut it up into 35 easy-to-digest lessons.

The combined video runtime of those 35 lessons is a little over 9 hours. I know that sounds intimidating but you can take the online class at your own pace.

Those 35 lessons are broken out into 4 modules. To complete the virtual course, watch each of the video lessons in a module, and then go to your own local gun range to complete the live fire exercises for that module.

Return home and start the next module. Continue and repeat. You could complete each of the four modules in a week, a month, or really whatever timeline you want based on your own busy schedule.

The online course utilizes very advanced but easy-to-use technology. The below image gives you a preview of how it looks.

Features of the Online Video Course:

  • Watch from any internet-connected device
  • Easy to navigate from lesson to lesson
  • System remembers where you left off
  • Pause, rewind, and rewatch
