FN Announces New 509 Compact Tactical Pistol

FN America recently announced its newest pistol on May 19, 2020. The new pistol is the next model in their 509 lineup, and is being called the 509 Compact Tactical. The pistol is currently available in Flat Dark Earth (FDE) and black.

The tactical features on this compact pistol are said to be as follows:

  • Optic ready slide cut, able to accept more than 10 different style red dot sights
  • Suppressor height sights
  • Threaded barrel to install a suppressor or compensator.

Standard 509 features haven't gone away, so you still get everything that makes the 509 a great gun. I've currently got a 509M in my possession and think it's a fantastic shooter. In fact, you can read my first thoughts on it, here.

This pistol boasts a 4.3 inch barrel and, if I'm reading it right, three different magazines. It comes with a 12, 15, and 24 round capacity mag (unless you live in a communist state with mag capacity restrictions) as well as the optic mounting kit. It's always nice when you don't have to buy those kits as extra, as well as getting three magazines.

Check out FN's website for more info. Stay tuned for more as I'm sure one of us will be requesting a gun to evaluate in the not too distant future.
