- 1 in 3 incidents ended in a death.
- 48% injured or killed someone other than the person holding the firearm.
- 30% were discharged by a minor under 18 — nearly always a gun left unsecured by an adult.
- Home was the most common location, well ahead of the range, the field, or anywhere else.
We set out to find 100 stories. The team hit that number fast enough that I asked them to keep going. They stopped at 300 because we told them to stop, not because they ran out. Reading all of them changed the way I handle a firearm, and I think reading them will change the way you handle yours.
