The Almost Perfect Holster

This is our answer to everything that gets under our skin about concealed carry these days. If you have the obligatory box of holsters and nothing really satisfies, this is for you.

Why Does This Matter?

You have probably heard the old adage, the first rule of a gunfight is to bring a gun.

Well, it seems that the biggest issue facing armed Americans today is the literal challenge of having a gun with them.

Our survey data shows that the top two reasons why people don’t carry a gun every day are because of Physical Discomfort and Difficulty Concealing...

factors that keep you from carrying more often

The topic of holsters and concealment isn’t as tacticool as high speed shooting...

Use of cover...

Or shooting through car windshields;

It is arguably the most important content we could share because none of those fancy tactics or important shooting skills matter if you don’t have the gun with you or can’t draw it well and get it into the fight.

And perhaps, like Riley, you have spent $1,000s of your own money on holsters because you understand that this is quite literally a question of life and death...

Why Did We Decide To Design It From The Ground Up?

Solving this problem is so important to us that we just went and outright bought a holster company.

It wasn’t always our goal to buy a holster company, but we did feel strongly that we needed to provide a holster that solved all the MAJOR issues that are so prevalent among most of the existing name-brand companies.

I’m serious, after years of making holsters in Riley’s garage, writing business plans to start a holster business from scratch, and selling literally over 100,000 holsters from other companies on ConcealedCarry.com, we finally decided we needed to buy an existing company and then develop the perfect holster.

In 2022 we sealed the deal on the purchase of KSG Armory, a smaller holster company based in Texas.

We bought KSG because their entire product line, their approach to making the holsters, the materials they use, and the number of specific use cases they solved is better than any other company possible for us to buy.

Today, I’m going to tell you about the newest, most improved, revolutionary holster in that lineup. We knew from the outset of purchasing that company that they didn’t have our perfect holster. No existing holster company had what we felt was the perfect holster. So we’ve spent a month and a half designing the perfect holster, and we have been so excited to share it with you...

Why Did We Choose KSG Armory As Our Starting Point?

First, you should know all KSG Armory holsters meet the standards we have been talking about. They all have the key attributes of safety, concealment, comfort, customization, and craftsmanship that are important. All KSG holsters, including the Lexington meet some key requirements:

KSG Armory Logo 1920x1080

Starting with Safety Standards which are the absolute most important considerations and where we see a lot of “name brand” holsters fail.

These are absolutely safe.

Nothing is more important in a holster than safety so every holster is made to protect the trigger guard, provide adequate retention of the gun, and retain the holster to the body during the draw.

We use the highest quality kydex material available.

In fact, Black and many other colors are actually Boltaron which is a stronger material than even the best Kydex. And where we can’t use Boltaron we use .08” Kydex which is 25% thicker and stronger than the Kydex that many holster companies use

We use REAL guns not blue guns to test fit and mold each holster.

Cheap holster companies use blue guns because it's cheaper and less hassle, but blue guns are not always the exact dimensions of the real gun. We use the actual real gun to mold and test fit every SINGLE holster we sell. Yes, this means we have to own a LOT of guns, but this is an absolute necessity in putting out a quality holster product that you can have confidence will fit your gun. This matters because the holster must fit your gun like a glove. This is important to prevent safety errors and guarantee proper retention so the gun only comes out when you draw it.

We use the highest quality belt attachment options for similar reasons.

No FOMI or other junky clips that fail to retain to your body or bend and break, or lose effectiveness over time. DCC Clips, DCC Monoblock, or Pull-the-Dot (PTD) Soft Loops. All proven, top-tier options because we have seen way too many holsters come right off the belt or body during the draw, and this could mean losing your gunfight.

The next most important thing is proper Concealment and Comfort because if your holster doesn’t do those two things well you are likely to stop carrying and leave the gun at home and of course next important to that is the ability to get and deploy that gun effectively in a gun fight...

No sharp edges, square corners or other things that create discomfort.

The holster is designed to maximize comfort and all edges are rounded and buffed to perfection

Custom KSG Foam wedge designed to increase comfort

by conforming to your body and as acting as a barrier between your softest body parts and the holster, while simultaneously increasing concealment by pivoting the holster and firearm inward toward the body utilizing one of those 3 axes of concealment like we discussed

Holsters come standard with a wing or claw

and you can choose from any of the industry’s top options including the ModWing, Dark Wing, or RCS Claw

Additional customization options

such as different sweat guard heights and the ability to extend the holster longer than the barrel and slide which aids in concealment through use of the “keel principle” and it distributes pressure against a larger surface area of the body without increasing waistband footprint.

Absolutely NOTHING that would impede the draw

Sweat guards are cut to guarantee they don’t expand beyond the actual gun, and the holster material and the wing or claw have proper spacing to ensure they don’t impede your ability to get a full master grip on the gun right from the holster. Each holster is custom molded and trimmed to your specific firearm which means excess holster material is removed, and specifically the area right below the trigger guard that meets your hand doesn’t get in the way of a smooth, fast, and strong draw.

Adjustable ride height

Most models have adjustable ride height so you can dial in your perfect carry position

And because we know the world of handguns and concealment is changing…

Every holster is optic compatible.

If you run a red dot or you plan to in the future you don’t have to worry about our holster working with your gun

Every holster is PHLster Enigma compatible and we have models that are also Enigma-optimized.

The Enigma is a belt chassis that is growing in popularity. If you use the Enigma or think you might in the future, you have the comfort of knowing that every holster we sell is 100% compatible with the Enigma.

Each holster is compatible with suppressor height sights.

No more worrying if the sight channel on your holster is going to fit your sights.

We spare no expense on the craftsmanship of these holsters.

USA Made

Every component in the holster is sourced from a US company and every holster is designed and hand-crafted by shooters here in Colorado.

Tested for durability.

The position of belt hardware, rivets, holes, wings, etc is all designed and placed with precision across the entire holster to reduce risk of breaks or wear

Every holster comes with threadlocker (loctite or comparable).

You can wear your holster for a few days and make adjustments to height, cant, wing position, etc, and when you have it dialed in how you want, apply threadlocker to all the screws. Never lose a holster screw again.

Sound Impressive? That's Because IT IS Impressive...

We took everything we knew and loved from all KSG holsters that I mentioned up to this point, and made it even better by designing what we think it the perfect holster, here’s what else the Lexington can do:

Without getting into the nitty gritty details of the product line, it sufficeth to say that when we bought the company, there were 2 holster designs that both had amazing features. HOWEVER they also lacked some crucial features...

We asked KSG early on in our conversations, "Why not combine the best components of those 2 holster designs into one holster?" The owner at KSG told us he actually intended to do that at some point but just hadn’t gotten to it. So after we got everything set up and dialed in for our processes we took on that project.

So today we are also proud to introduce you to the Lexington.

Honestly, when I hear someone talk about a holster that is extremely versatile and good at doing a lot of things I jump to the immediate conclusion that it probably isn’t really good at doing anything.

That isn’t the case with the Lexington. The Lexington, named for the first battle of the American Revolutionary War, is ambidextrous, designed for Appendix Carry or Traditional IWB, has adjustable retention, adjustable ride height, and adjustable cant.

It can be used with any industry standard wing or claw, is fully compatible for use with the Enigma, and can be attached to a belt using the DCC Monoblock, Soft Loops or DCC Clips. AND it can include an optional foam wedge to increase both concealment and comfort.

The Lexington is also optimized for each available gun, meaning there are slight tweaks in the design if you order it for a micro-compact gun vs a full size handgun.

Attention to detail here is critical for us. And frankly this might be the most customizable, high-quality IWB holster on the market.

The Lexington is the first ever holster fully designed by the team here at ConcealedCarry.com from the ground up. It’s our baby, and if I can be so bold this is the closest thing possible to a Perfect Holster.

And part of what makes it perfect, beyond the quality construction, best materials, and durable design is the versatility. You can craft this how you want it to work best for you.

And, are you ready for this… I’m proud to announce that the Lexington was launched, out of the gate, available for over 100 different and unique handguns.

KSG Armory

The holster is ambidextrous but we are happy to attach all your hardware based on the hand orientation you intend to use.

Mid-height (on both sides) is standard. If you select Ambidextrous above and full height below, it will be full height on BOTH sides. If you select right or left-handed above and full height below, the inside will be full height and the outside will be mid-height

Extends the holster by as much as 1-inch. Could be less depending on the specific firearm. You can also choose to have it made as long as possible. Specific lengths may also be requested in the order notes. When in doubt extend it. We can always trim more off but we can't add material back on.

See the product description for additional details on these options

Description

The Lexington is the combination of all the right things in an AIWB kydex holster. It is designed to be durable but comfortable.

Lexington Holster Belt Attachment Options

  • (2) PTD Soft Loops w/ Struts: the same as above but tuckable and with even more precise ride height adjustments, compatible with both AIWB and IWB use
  • (2) DCC Clips 1.5″ Slotted: spreads the belt load across a wider area for more stability in carrying and is the best choice 2-clip solution for AIWB use with good vertical ride height adjustment, tuckable
  • (2) DCC Clips 1.5″ Canted: the best 2-clip solution for traditional IWB use (3:00-4:30 belt position), can be angled to your desired cant, tuckable
  • (2) DCC Clips 1.75″ Slotted: same as the slotted option above but for 1.75″ belt widths
  • (2) DCC Clips 1.75″ Canted: same as the canted option above but for 1.75″ belt widths
  • UltiClip UltiTuck: a “clasp” style concealment clip for IWB use. Fully tuckable.
  • None, Enigma Optimized: BYOH (Bring Your Own Hardware) or for use with the PHLster Enigma
Retention is adjustable. The Lexington is optics ready. Regardless if you already have a red dot mounted or you plan to add one in the future the Lexington is designed to not conflict with your optic. The holster features a generous sight channel that accommodates nearly all suppressor-height sights. The Lexington is ambidextrous by design, but we will install hardware according to the hand orientation (right-hand or left-hand) you select. If you select ambidextrous you will need to set up your own hardware (included). Like all our holsters, you will receive threadlocker. Wear your holster for a few days and adjust ride height and cant, and when you have it dialed in how you like it, apply the included threadlocker to secure your hardware and prevent screws from backing out and being lost. Our foam wedge, if you're planning to wear it at the appendix position, is available as an add-on. It comes with hook-and-loop tape with the “hook” side already installed on the wedge. The “loop” side is provided for you to installed exactly where you want it on the holster. If you are planning to use a 3rd party wedge product please note the RCS wedge does not bolt up to this holster. The Lexington Holster is fully compatible with the Enigma. The bottom of the holster is left at least partially open to ensure that anything falling into the holster will likely fall right out. If you have a threaded barrel please indicate so when ordering. Choosing the “threaded barrel” holster will guarantee the bottom of the holster is completely open-ended. Planning on carrying it AIWB?  Besides adding a wedge it is highly recommended for most people that you consider extending the holster with the “AIWB length” option.  The extra length not only stabilizes the pistol vertically, but it also spreads out the pressure and makes it more comfortable without increasing waistband footprint.  Remember, we can always cut the holster down, but it's impossible to add it back. 😉 To clarify, when you choose to extend the holster, we try to extend it by as much as 1 inch beyond your barrel length. We are limited however is how far we can extend it. This is especially true with longer slide-length guns. If your gun is already full size or long slide length, we may not be able to extend it much at all let alone a full inch. If you have questions about how far we can extend a holster please contact us with the specific make/model information before ordering. The Lexington comes standard with a ModWing but optionally you can use the Darkwing or the RCS Claw instead. The belt claw, sometimes called a wing, will rotate/tuck the grip into the body.  The ModWing is modular, coming with two claw heights to provide different levels of grip rotation. Belt claw options:
  • The ModWing is our standard recommended option.  The tip of the claw is removable and has two options for height.
  • The Dark Wing (by Dark Star Gear) is tapered, designed to work synergistically with the wedge, or possibly remove the need for the wedge if you're one of the few that don't need both.  It's aggressive, creating lots of grip rotation, and is not modular.
  • The RCS VG claw extends out to the side farther than the ModWing or the Dark Star Darkwing.  This gives more grip rotation than the ModWing with less belt deformation.  It's what I use for my full size carry pistol.
The Lexington holster is vacuum-formed on CNC molds for precision, crafted from .080″ thickness of Boltaron/Kydex which is 25% thicker than the common thickness used by many other holster companies. Boltaron and Kydex are very similar, but Boltaron gets a slight edge in terms of material strength, is more resistant to deformation from being left in high-temp environments while also being more resistant to cracking in freezing temperatures. Boltaron is also more chemical and solvent resistant than Kydex. However, Boltaron is only available in a few colors while Kydex has the most color options. Holstex is another Kydex-like material that you'll find our carbon fiber colors offered in. 60-day satisfaction guarantee!  If you don't love it – for any reason – return it for a full refund.    As these are made to order, lead time varies. Lead times for this product are updated on this page: KSG Lead Time

Some History On The Lexington Holster

For a long time, the Halcyon was the flagship holster and product here at KSG. A few years ago Kaery Dudenhofer of Kaery Concealed encouraged us to design a new holster that would accommodate smaller firearms that are have risen in popularity and that new design was named the Kaery.  Both the Halycon and Kaery holsters became our top-selling products here at KSG. However, each seemed to only bring about 75% of the “package” to the table. In 2022, we made the decision to combine the best elements of the Halcyon and Kaery designs into a single design. Enter The Lexington. The Lexington is named for the Battle of Lexington which took place on April 19th, 1775. British troops marched toward Concord to seize arms and gun powder from the American colonists but were met with resistance when local militia assembled in both Lexington and Concord. This initial skirmish became the first battle of what was the be the American Revolutionary war. It was a resounding message to the world that American people will not give up our arms and become subjects to tyrannical rule.

Going straight into the pile of holsters that sounded good but ultimately weren't. I should've looked at the design before wasting money on an ambidextrous holster. There's no reason for it like there's no reason for a one size fits all. Why a holster needs two sweat guards is beyond me. There's one that has a purpose and one that simply gets in the way of reholstering your pistol. I shouldn't need to slip my pistol in-between them to holster it when I can just slide it down into my Concealment Express with no issues of an extra sweat guard getting in the way. It's 100 times easier and safer. The amount of extra training I'd have to do to not accidentally put my trigger on the end of the extra sweat guard just to use this thing is a complete waste of time. This holster would've been the closest thing to “a perfect holster” (as they described) if there weren't a pointless second sweat guard. I'll stick with Concealment Express and chock this up to an expensive loss. It just seems extremely lazy to produce an ambidextrous holster. It's like the company is mass producing for profit instead of producing a quality product made for the individual.

    • Matthew Maruster

Personally I don't have the issue you described with holstering. But certainly if it's an issue for you, that's okay. I wouldn't get rid of the holster. You could use a dremel and take it off in a matter of minutes.

  2. Steve Wicks (verified owner)

This is an outstanding holster. I have been using Dark Star holsters, which are great, but this new Lexington holster is a cut above DK. I had been considering one of Gabe’s holsters for awhile, and then found out about CC’s takeover of the brand. Their customer service is outstanding so placing an order was a no brainer. I give it 10 stars! Well done, CC!

  3. Brian

I don’t normally leave reviews but this holster is great!! I heard about it on Concealed Carry Podcast. First kydex holster that doesn’t rub me wrong or rub my finger raw when practicing my draw. Great job!!

  4. Dan

As good as it gets. I didn’t plan it it but now have a box of holsters after much trial and error. Heard about the Lexington on a podcast and gave it a try. It has a lot going on; Wing, claw, wedge…but man does this fit great! I carry the Glock 43x, Glock 19 and now Sig XMacro AIWB and this is the most comfortable set up by far. I am picky on retention and this holster model is great. It keeps the firearm pressed to the body without discomfort. Love the DC clips. Not crazy about the ‘lead time’ but I get it. If you’re on the fence, just try it, you won’t be disappointed!

  5. Wes Mosteller

I am really happy with the Lexington holster! I carry my Sig p365 X Macro in the appendix position and this holster makes carrying appendix much more comfortable. Get the recommended extension you’ll be glad you opted for it after wearing it all day!
I’ll be placing another order soon!! Well done!

  6. Pir8te

I have probably tried all the IWB from the main holsters shops, and have a basket full of holsters and pads to prove it. None fit as they come no matter how much I paid after some tinkering they were workable. I was still searching trying to find my holster so so I decided to try this one, high full sweat guard mod wing and extend it …WOW super comfortable on 1st shot no pads no tinkering the 1st one I got one for my HKP30 I was so impressed I ordered a 2nd one for my CZ P-01 can't wait to get it

  7. Will Somerville (verified owner)

I'm a chubby guy and assumed there isn't a comfortable aiwb carry holster, especially for a Glock. I was happily wrong! Dialed-in the short wedge and took it for a spin. Very comfortable both standing/walking and sitting. Forgot I was carrying at times. It REALLY IS that comfortable! I'm a huge fan of RB and his training so when he recommended it, I had to give it a try. ONLY complaint is the wait time but it's a small company delivering an exceptional product so I get it. I bought a second one and it appears the wait time is 4 to 5 weeks so much shorter than the first one. The retention is great and easily adjusted for the tension you prefer. Thanks Riley!

  8. Everett Arey

Great review. Lots of great information to customize and “comfortize” my IWB EDC options. One confusion. I carry Appendix. Your video and the description here on your ordering page recommends the longer holder for 3-4 o'clock appendix. I get that it puts more across a wider surface area, and thus more stable and comfort…while standing. My only concern was won't the longer holster bottom dig deeper into my right leg while sitting? (Hence, the longer AIWB cut holster would be less comfortable while driving and sitting in public?) Any clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    • Jacob Paulsen

Everett, I'm 5′ 9″ and I carry in a holster that is longer than a Glock 17 would require. It doesn't cause me any discomfort while sitting. It doesn't dig into my leg because it really rides next to my leg. Each person has to figure out that ideal length and I think for most people its longer than you would think. If you carry a smaller gun I suspect extending the holster would be wise. If you carry a mid to full size gun it may be less necessary. One other consideration is that anyone with a saw and sand paper can make the holster shorter but you can't add material to it after the company ships it. Best to error on the side of too long.

  9. Wolf Wolf

I have 4″ and 5″ PDPs. I have several different holsters for each of them. I only keep the holsters that I would be willing to wear: that means perfect fit, correct retention, completely protected trigger, secure attachment to my belt, and adjustable enough to allow a good draw. I have Lexington's for both guns. I wear AIWB, so a wedge of some kind is appropriate for me. I'm wearing the 5″ right now with the Cloudster Pillow and the whole rig is practically invisible. This Lexington is in Red Carbon Fiber. It's a damn good holster and all the mounting holes allow me to cant my DCC Monoblock exactly the way I need it. My only complaint is the same complaint I have about almost every holster you can get: the screws that hold on the wing also control the retention. To get the retention just right, you might end up with a floppy wing. Philster makes a retention kit that will fix this problem, no matter your holster. This review is about the holster, and it's a great holster. I have a rotation, but I would still be a happy camper if I wore the Lexington every day.
