Re: The most important thing average CCWers DON'T know about Tactical Flashlights

Dear Friend,

A good tactical flashlight can be a difference-maker in a number of dangerous encounters.

Above all other factors, brightness is the most significant factor that professionals use to select a light since it is the most critical in the positive outcome of the critical incident.

However, there is a little known trick to increase the brightness output of most traditional tactical flashlights by simply switching out the battery.

In addition, with the right battery, you can decrease the cost of use by about 98%.

Uncovering The Secret - What Is The 16340 How Does it Increase Performance While Decreasing Cost

The most common battery used in a "Tactical" high output flashlight is the CR123a battery. Unlike common AA, AAA, C, and D batteries which only output 1.5 volts, the CR123a has a high output of 3 volts and is incredibly small measuring less than 1.5 inches tall.

It has become prevalent in the marketplace where flashlight companies are driving smaller lights with higher lumens (brightness levels).

The primary complaint most people have? Cost.

If you buy them at a retail store in a common 2 or 4 pack you generally would pay almost $3 per battery.

Even if you buy them in bulk on a website like Amazon you still are going to pay at least $1.60 per battery.

The good news? There is an alternative that costs less AND has a higher output.

Meet The 16340

The 16340 battery is a rechargeable version of the CR123a size battery.

16340s aren't extremely new to the marketplace but they are relatively unknown and what's more the technology continues to improve driving even more value from such a compact package.

There Are 2 Reasons Why The 16340 Is Superior

First, the 16340 battery has an output of 3.7 volts. That is a 23% increase in voltage output from the 16340 compared to the CR123a.

Most flashlights see an increase of between 20 and 40% in lumens just by using the 16340 battery over the CR123a.

*Please note that while Almost ALL flashlights that are powered by the CR123a battery should also accept a 16340, there are exceptions. Some flashlights are unable to accept the increased voltage output and using a 16340 could damage your light in those circumstances. The user is responsible to verify the compatibility of the light.

Second, the 16340 battery is rechargeable which means significantly less cost per use. Instead of paying dollars per battery cycle you can pay pennies.

The 16340 batteries we are going to recommend (below) will last 800-1000 recharge cycles which means less than 2 CENTS per battery cycle.

When you measure what you pay to use a battery in a flashlight the best way to measure it is cost per 1000 mAh.

mAh is Milliamp Hours and is a measurement of how much energy is being stored in the battery or expelled from the battery.

Traditional CR123a batteries are generally advertised as having between 800 and 1550 mAh. Thus if you pay $2 for the battery and get 1000 mAh out of it then you paid $2 per 1000 mAh.
