Minnesota law essentially dictates that Minnesota will honor permits from states that have similar permit-to-carry law. There are a few key components to that that include:
- Minimum age of 21 to obtain a permit
- Training with live fire required to apply
Based on those two criteria Minnesota has made two changes to their reciprocity.
Minnesota No Longer Honors The Nevada Permit
Nevada has been withdrawn as a “similar” state because age 21 is no longer the minimum age for all permit applicants.
Minnesota Now Honors The West Virginia Permit
Minnesota has taken notice that WV requires training with live-fire and they have a minimum age of 21. Thus the WV permit is now valid in Minnesota!
